How the GH Score works
The GH Score is a number out of 10 that tells an employer how ready a candidate is for a role. It is built mostly from what a senior professional saw the candidate do in a live interview, and from a timed skill test. Here is exactly how it is calculated and how we keep it honest.
What goes into the score
Each part is scored out of 10, then combined with these weights. Freshers and experienced candidates are weighed differently, because a fresher has no work history to show.
| Part | Fresher | Experienced |
|---|---|---|
| Expert interview | 35% | 30% |
| Skill test | 30% | 25% |
| Work experience | — | 25% |
| Education | 20% | 10% |
| Certifications | 10% | 10% |
| Profile | 5% | — |
- Only what you have counts. If a part is missing, for example no interview yet, the other parts are re-weighted so they still add up to 100%.
- Recent counts most. Interviews and tests count in full for six months, then at 60% up to a year, then at 30%. Skills change, and the score should too.
- Your best, per role. For skill tests, your strongest result in your strongest role counts.
- Shown only when meaningful. A score is published once the profile is at least 80% complete and a skill test has been taken.
The expert interview
A 30–45 minute, 1-on-1 video interview with a working professional in the candidate's field. There are no AI evaluators and no group rounds. The interviewer scores each skill from 1 to 5, gives an overall score out of 10, and writes what went well and what to work on. The candidate receives that feedback.
A candidate with at least one completed expert interview carries the Interview Verified badge.
How we keep the score honest
Calibrated interviewers
Before a new interviewer takes interviews, they score recorded reference interviews without seeing the original scores. Only those whose scores land close to our senior interviewers' get interviews. Interviewers whose scores drift far from the panel are reviewed, and those rated poorly by candidates are paused.
Identity checks
At the start of every expert interview, the candidate shows a photo ID on camera and the interviewer confirms the name. If it does not match, the interview does not count towards anyone's GH Score.
Recorded interviews
With the candidate's agreement, expert interviews are recorded. The recording can be watched by the candidate, the interviewer, the company or agency that arranged the interview, and our team for quality checks and interviewer training. Recordings are deleted after 180 days, or when the candidate deletes their account. Saying no to a recording never stops an interview.
Checked against real hires
30 and 90 days after someone is hired through Grohire, we ask the employer how they are doing. We compare those answers with the GH Score they were hired on, to keep checking that the score predicts real job performance. Those answers are never shown to the candidate or used in their score.
What the score is not
- Nobody at Grohire can edit a score. Our team can only remove an input found to be fraudulent, after which the score is recalculated.
- Paying for more interviews does not raise a score; only doing well in them does.
- Skill tests are proctored: leaving the test window or copying and pasting is recorded, and a held result does not count.
